Day One – Alabama River

I had a tough day today and never could get dialed in.  I lost a couple of fish at the boat and ran all over the river trying to recover.  I did get a couple of photos on www.bassmaster.com today and am going to go grind it out tomorrow.

Alabama River

I have had a decent practice this week on the Alabama River.  I plan to fish for a big bite and fish aggressively.  The water level is supposed to start dropping, and if it does can make the fishing tough, but I have found some fish during the practice I think I can go catch.  Check in on www.bassmaster.com tomorrow for coverage.

Day 2 – West Point

I caught a bigger limit today, 6-12 but it wasn’t enough to move up into the top 50.  I am going to head to the Alabama River this next week.  Look for an update early in the week.

Day 1 – West Point

I am in 60th after day one, I caught about 10 keepers today, and even caught one on camera while BASS photographer James Overstreet was watching.  I am going to go fish hard tomorrow and see if I can’t upgrade my catch a little more.  I was even on the homepage of Bassmaster.com today as well, photos below.

West Point Lake Practice

Practice has been decent so far, however big bites are harder to come by.  A limit here is going to get you a white ribbon and two days of fishing.  I am spending today looking for quality bites.  Look for another update tonight after the meeting.

Day Two – Bull Shoals

I just had a rough tournament.  I am going to do a photoshoot in the morning with BASS then head back to Oklahoma to re-group and prep for the next two tourney swing.  James Overstreet caught this photo of me this morning at launch.

Day 1 – Bull Shoals

I had a tough day today and weighed two fish for 4-1.  I am going to go fish hard tomorrow and try to catch a big bag.

Bull Shoals – Day 1 Cancelled

BASS has cancelled day one of the Bull Shoals Quest, due to severe weather coming through the area.  I will never dispute a decision BASS makes, however I feel this one was encouraged by the sight fisherman, as the weather today would have made it impossible to “see em”.  Tomorrow the sight fisherman are going to go “grocery shopping” as they go down the bank picking off the easy targets.  I have a way I think I can catch some fish, I am going to mentally prepare today and go after it hard tomorrow.

Bull Shoals Preview

I am pretty disappointed with what I found in practice this week.  The water is as clear as I can remember seeing, and the fish are on the beds.  The sight-fisherman are going to dominate this event and that is not one of my strengths.  I am going to try something aggressive in the morning and see if it works, if not I am just going to “go fishing” and see what I can find.  I need to give a shout out to Mike McClelland for towing me in today when my motor broke down.  I am boat 32 tomorrow, check www.bassmaster.com for updates.

Still Fishing

Even when I am not fishing in tournaments, I still enjoy fishing and yesterday I was able to catch up with long time friend, Craig Oden.  Craig is an accomplished fisherman himself, and a heck of a golfer.  Congrats!
